TBA Periti was formed in 1988, primarily as a structural engineering consultancy, offering its services to local architectural and civil engineering practices, in the solution of specific civil and structural engineering problems, related to low- and high-rise construction, as well as to large-span industrial buildings, and road bridges.
It subsequently broadened its activities, in line with the developing interests of the partners, and of the partnership’s staff resources, particularly in the areas of architectural design, rehabilitation of heritage buildings, assessment and repair of structures as well as project and construction management and cost control.
The founding partners have an extensive academic background, having graduated in Engineering and Architecture from the University of Malta, and having followed specialist Masters degrees, and Doctoral research programs in leading UK Universities. All partners are still intimately linked with teaching and research at the University of Malta and this continuous academic involvement enables them to remain at the forward edge of their respective specialities.
2014 ushered in a new chapter for TBA Periti with the addition of two new partners, Perit Gaston Camilleri and Perit Brendon Muscat, who have been with the company since they graduated in Engineering and Architecture from the University of Malta, and followed specialist Masters courses in leading Universities.
Each partner has their own specialist interests. Prof. Dr. A.Torpiano specializes in reinforced and pre-stressed concrete structures, as well as masonry structures, especially heritage masonry structures. Prof.Dr.M.Bonello specializes in steel structures, but also in offshore structures and management of infrastructural projects. Perit Gaston Camilleri specialized in restoration of historic masonry and RC structures and property valuations, whilst Perit Brendon Muscat specialized in reinforced concrete structures and in project management.
In addition to the partners, TBA Periti currently employs a number of full-time professional architects and engineers. The practice has a heavier workload of projects with a structural engineering component, and this is reflected in its human resources. Nevertheless, the practice firmly believes in a multi-disciplinary design approach and it strives to deliver integrated architectural and civil/structural engineering proposals. In addition to the architectural, civil engineering, structural, restoration and property valuation teams, TBA Periti has, over the years, acquired experienced staff with an expertise in site management and supervision together with other Associates engaged by the professional practice.
